What is this class?
It is a 6 week creative journey with instruction, positive creative guidance and support and amazing creating
Physical workshops and online courses are GREAT and they definitely help you build and develop your creative practice. BUT do you always seem to miss something? Do you feel like you could use just a bit more guidance. Do you feel lost as soon as the class and the instructor is done with their demo? What happens when it’s time for you to add paint to the canvas? Do you freeze and forget everything?
Wouldn’t it be amazing to have not only instruction as you create along but a bit of guidance as you place that brush to canvas so YOU and your creative process can begin to develop and gain the results you want? This type of attention is what advances and allows you work to grow.
I definitely know it can be frustrating and soul crushing to work hard at “perfecting” your creativity only to be hit with those creating stumbling blocks along the way. This can drain our confidence and make us wonder whether we are wasting our time and energy on a practice that is not flourishing.
….well this is why I created this WORKSHOP!!! A Six Week Creative Journey with YOU in mind!
What is Waiting For You!
1. Online ZOOM class once a week for 2 hours. (Don’t worry you will have lifetime access to the replay if you miss anything). Here you will listen and see me work through our project as well as view students work and answer questions.
2. Pre-recorded homework assignments and BONUS Videos. Each week you will receive additional pre-recorded videos to help you along your creative journey, reinforce discussions and help you build a solid creative foundation.
3. Weekly personal guidance email. Each week I will ask you to email me your work in progress. In turn you will receive a personalized discussion of feedback and support to help you move forward. These weekly emails are designed to provide you additional support and guidance within your 6 week journey.
4. And, the best thing about this journey is the knowledge your will gain to keep creating!! Whether you are just starting out or been arting for awhile - this Creative Journey works for ALL creators to help you stay on track and start GROWING!!!
COURSE FLOW:
Our GOAL will be to create an expressive mixed media portrait in our six week journey. Each week we will continue to build and develop our project, ask questions and learn from others too!
Week One: The beginning - we will explore how to activate intention and begin to express ourselves onto our canvas. Development of our foundation with color grids, exploring different palettes, drawing and exploring various Creative “Training Wheels” if needed. Here we will also learn to document our story through journaling.
Week Two: The Foundation is Set - we will begin to apply our creative confidence and build up our underpainting. Intuitive flow is not far behind - where we will let go and let paint express itself around our composition.
Week Three: Layers - continue the build up of our composition as well as exploring various mixed media techniques to add and develop our creative story.
Week Four: Stepping back to Observe - see where you are and evaluate where you want to go. Allowing for bold changes and continuing our story on canvas.
Week Five: Do We SEE an End in Sight? - continuing our layers or a glaze or two to help deepen our story. Tips and techniques on style development will be discussed.
Week Six: Putting it ALL together - This is our last session - where we celebrate our AMAZINGNESS - finishing touches will be explored and an discussion on how to expand your creative process further.
In Addition to these Sessions
- Each week - I will have you email me a photo of your progress. With your permission I will use these images during our ZOOM session for discussion as well as send you a personalized email with feedback and tips to help you through the week. (Not available with VIEW ONLY Access)
- Each week you will receive additional “homework” pre-recorded demos to help reinforce techniques and topics discussed.
- All ZOOM Sessions will be recorded and replay will be available next day.

Your Instructor
Hi my name is Christa Forrest! I am just your guide, your support and motivation to let your creative soul open and emerge! I am a full time artist that specializes in mixed media, oil and acrylic painting. Focusing mostly on expressive portraits, I also dabble in everything else!
Where did it begin?
I left a 20 year career in finance to pursue my true passion in art and have never looked back. When I am not creating expressive art on my easel, I am teach online art courses to help guide others along their creative journey.
